According to a recent research2guidance estimate, in the next three years, the smartphone applications market could grow by more than eight times. Last year’s revenue has reached about $1.94 billion; by 2013, the market could grow over 807 percent, to almost $15.65 billion. The prediction has been based on a major push into smartphones around the world; analysts say that this could result in 970 million smartphones being in use by 2013. Researchers also claim that the audience is on the way of tripling this year, reaching about 300 million.
Application development has been growing extremely fast over the past two years, especially among the iPhone and Android platforms. iPhone seems to have over 150,000 applications, even if in July 2008, the company started with only 500. NEWBURY PARK, Calif. (KABC) -- Want tips for a workout? There's an application for that. How about a recipe for chicken Cacciatori? There's an app for that. One Ventura County woman is discovering new ways to help women on the go, one app at a time.
Eyewitness News went in search of the best apps specifically for women for the iPhone and other smartphones, and there were plenty.
In Newbury Park, Tracey Sebastian, a mother of four, a writer and blogger for iPhone Life Magazine, says her smartphone has made her a lot smarter.
"You can do pretty much anything and everything on in. If not, there's an app for that," said Tracy.

Free Skype calls to other Skype users will be possible, and cheaper calls to landlines and mobile phones willl be possible as well as abroad. Easy share of pictures and videos without the need for a computer will also be allowed.
Wi-Fi and 3G willl be used to run the app. Although Skype calls that use the 3G network will count towards a user's monthly contract data allowance. AT&T's Motorola Backflip reviewed |
|
Mar 03, 2010 - 4:39 PM - by VARMA
|

On March 7, AT&T will release its first Google Android smartphone, the Motorola Backflip, for $99.99 with a two-year contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate.
The Backflip made its debut at CES 2010 where it earned our Best of CES award for the cell phones and smartphones category because of its unique design, which includes a rear-facing QWERTY keyboard and a trackpad behind the display. Unfortunately, after now spending some time with the final product, this seems to be the only real highlight of the phone.
